Best Time to Visit Varanasi, Ayodhya & Prayagraj
All three cities share a similar climate pattern, but a few local details are worth knowing before you pick your dates.
October to March: the comfortable window
This is the window we recommend for most trips across Varanasi, Ayodhya and Prayagraj. Daytime temperatures are manageable for temple visits and ghat walks, and evenings are pleasant enough to enjoy the Ganga Aarti or a boat ride without the heat working against you.
Summer (April–June)
Temperatures across all three cities climb significantly, and midday sightseeing becomes uncomfortable. If summer is your only option, we plan itineraries around early mornings and evenings, with rest during the hottest hours.
Monsoon (July–September)
The rivers rise, which can affect ghat access in Varanasi and boating in Prayagraj. Travel is still possible, but we plan more conservatively around water levels.
Festival periods
Dev Deepawali in Varanasi, Ram Navami in Ayodhya, and Magh Mela or Kumbh years in Prayagraj all bring much larger crowds and are worth planning around — either to experience the occasion deliberately, or to avoid it if you’d prefer a quieter visit. Let us know if either applies to your dates.
